Wow, it is so hard to believe that it has almost been 2 months since my last post! I'll start by going back to February. Feb 22nd was Lyla's gotcha day! We went to Thai Secret for dinner with family and a few close friends. Lyla opened her gift and loved it! It's amazing how much she appreciates the small things in life. It definitely doesn't take much to please her!
Then, the snowstorm of the century hit! We got 18" of snow. Let me tell you, for Arkansas, that is a TON of snow! Needless to say, I got to stay home with the kiddos a lot & it was fun! It was too cold to play outside very much, but once it melted enough, Jeff took us sledding!
On April 3rd Lyla had her first church choir performance. She LOVES to sing & dance, so she was in heaven! She had us laughing a lot! At first, she was shielding her eyes from the bright lights, then she was hot. Her "super senses" had definitely kicked in! She did great, and I love that her teachers are so patient and understanding with her!
Last Sunday Jeff ran the Hogeye Marathon. He has done the Hogeye 1/2 the past few years & decided to do the full this year. It was probably his first & last time to do the Hogeye marathon. It started out great & he was on track to run a 3:40! But, when we saw him at mile 19 he was dehydrated and had already quit sweating. The aid stations didn't have water. Not good. Marathons are 26.2 miles, runners need water! It was also hot & windy. It just wasn't prime running conditions. His final time ended up being 4:26. We still had fun supporting him and are proud of his hard work! He is running the Oklahoma City marathon in 2 weeks.
Yesterday Jeff and Liem ran a 5k in Fayetteville. Liem loves to run with Jeff! He loves anything competitive! He did great & ran it in 30:21. I'm so proud of him!! The Naturals mascot was there (they are a local minor league baseball team), so Lyla danced with him after the boys finished the race!
Today was HUGE for Lyla! Look at the picture below. It is a necklace she made. I didn't help her at all. I just got the necklace ready to bead. SHE DID A PATTERN!!!!! Most of you might not realize how awesome this is. Lyla has a very hard time with most concepts. It takes her longer than most to "get it". I can't say how proud I am of this necklace. No, it isn't perfect. She ran out of the pink heart beads and messed up at the end. But, as far as I am concerned, it is the most beautiful and perfect piece of jewelry she owns!!!
That is all I have for tonight, sorry it was so long. That is what I get for not posting for 2 months!
