Summer Summer Summertime!!!

We have had a busy summer so far & I can't believe how fast it has gone by! The kids start back to school in 3 short weeks. I wish I could have taken some time off this summer to be with Liem and Lyla. Hopefully next summer I will be able to! Jeff and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on July 17th! We went away for the weekend while the kids stayed with grandma. It was our first trip away since we brought Lyla home. It was a great time for us to get away. Lyla has adjusted to home and family beautifully! She loves all of her grandparents and that makes it so much easier on Jeff and I knowing that she is fine if we leave her for a day or two. We have had Lyla for 5 months now and she is FINALLY beginning to talk! It is still VERY hard to understand a lot of what she says, but she is trying so hard! She is so funny because she will try so hard to carry on a conversation and she just shrugs her shoulders and quits talking when she can't figure out how to say what she is wanting to say. She doesn't get frustrated or upset, she usually just laughs at herself and gives up.

Today is a sad but exciting day for our family. Kenny and Mindi flew out this morning for Beijing, China! Mindi got a 2 year teaching contract there. They are both very excited and I know they will have an amazing experience! They will come home sometime next summer to visit (I hope)! We had a dinner with our family Sunday night to get together one last time. Here are some pictures from our evening.

It has been crazy busy around our house this summer! Our days are full of working, playing, teaching and sports! Liem started football practice last week and is loving every minute of it (of course)!! He loves playing sports and pours his little heart into everything he does! Jeff and I were talking the other day about how proud he makes us. He is such an amazing little boy! Believe it or not, he is a linebacker...yep, you read it right! I never in my life would have thought he would be playing defense in football, but he is doing good, and loves it!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July! Today I am thankful that Liem and Lyla get to grow up in America, LAND OF THE FREE, instead of the communist countries they were born in! Thanks to the men and women who fight for our freedom! Thanks to them, my kids can grow up to be anything they dream!

Liem is signed up to play Kiwanis Kids Day Football this year and he couldn't be more excited! He loves to play all sports, and we will let him try anything!

Liem's front teeth are coming in!!
Lyla's aren't...
Yesterday I took Liem and Lyla to the parade in downtown Springdale. The parade is so funny, you never know what you will see...firetrucks, horses, tractors, antique cars, lawn mowers. You see it all! The kids loved it, so that is all that matters!
Cousins Hunter & Hayden in the Tontitown F.D. Truck!

So far it has been a great weekend! If only it would last forever!
